About me

During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act. – George Orwell

This blog is my revolutionary act.

Hi. I’ve had a website in some form or another since 1996 and a domain since 1998. I’ve written a LOT of “about me” pages. Since I’m tired of doing that, for now here’s a short version of who I am.

4/52 - Almost like meditation

Sherry Osborne. I was apparently named after the drink. I can only be grateful that I wasn’t named after its better-tasting cousin, Port. What amuses me is that thanks to Google searches I’ve discovered that sometimes people find my site by searching for “Sherry Osborne” because there’s a vineyard called Osborne that makes Sherry. I find that hilarious.

I was born July 7th, 1974.

I live in the Montreal area. I’ve always wanted to live in Halifax but for now Montreal is home. Unfortunately.

I’ve been with George since 1999. We are proud parents of Hayley (born in September 2002) and Breanna (November 2005). I write about them a lot.

We have a paranoid cat named Cricket who is afraid of pretty much everything and a Beagle named Pearl who was apparently born without a functioning brain. We used to have a cat named Caesar, another named Angel, two rats named Nicodemus and Mozart, two different hamsters who were both named Henry, many fish, and some sea monkeys.

In the course of my life, I’ve had cats, a dog, hamsters, rats, fish, a rabbit, a gecko, and an iguana.

I really just want a horse.

At various point in my life, I studied journalism, psychology, English Lit, Religion, and Tourism.

I’ve never worked in any of those fields.

My hobbies include yoga, reading, writing, doing web-related things, wielding my digital camera like a weapon, and watching entirely too much prime time television.

My pet peeves include people who are rude and judgmental, people who can’t say thank you if you hold the door for them (I have a tendency to holler “you’re welcome!” after them, which usually freaks them out a bit), the telephone, and spam email telling me how I can enlarge my penis.

I love country music and anything George writes and sings, but I will listen to just about anything from rap to rock to top 40 music.

My favorite show was always “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” but since it went off the air, I also admit to loving “American Idol”, “The Amazing Race”, “The O.C.”, “Lost”, “CSI”, “CSI: Miami”, “Desperate Housewives”, and “Grey’s Anatomy”.

However, my current television obsession is “Criminal Minds”.

My favorite movie is a tie between “Heathers” and “The Last Supper”

My favorite books are A Thousand Splendid Suns, the entire Harry Potter series, Eat Pray Love, The Poisonwood Bible, The Time Traveler’s Wife, and The Night Inside.

I am hopelessly obsessed with Harry Potter. I will sit and discuss it for HOURS if left unchecked.

You’ll probably learn about me much more efficiently by reading my blog. This entry details some of my irritating habits. Meanwhile, you can also go back in my really old archives and read about the time I kicked my front door in, just like some kind of FBI agent on TV.

Anything else you need to know? Ask me.

  5. Hi there!

Great job for the pictures of Burkina Faso.

I am a burkinabe living in Ouagadougou

  6. well, ok I yell after people too, so I’m not alone! Normally I’m yelling “Excuse me works!!!!” After they’ve bowled myself or one of my kids over. As for Harry Potter, if I talk about him anymore I think my SO and my children are going to lock me in a closet! Your lucky you live in Canada (Well I think so!) I’ve always wanted to be able to hop that border and live there, not so easy anymore because who wants a bunch of stinky americans anyhow? LOL

I look forward to reading more of your posts, that sounds so weird!
